Stephanie Hoppen Gallery is delighted to present the photographic still lifes of Paulette Tavormina. In seeking out the objects which compose her enigmatic arrangements, Tavormina scours the streets of her home city, New York, visiting farmers and flower markets and pairing her findings with her own belongings.
Raised in a Sicilian family, Tavormina’s photographs emphasize the legacy of culinary traditions as well as the opulent detail of seventeenth century Old Master still lifes. In her own words “these still lifes are a modern and verdant story about love among chaos, the tenderness of life and the inevitable passage of time.”
Tavormina’s photographs feature in public and private collections and have been exhibited in London, Paris, Moscow and accross the United States.
